Relampago Rolfes (As told by Domingo Rivera)

There we were...Panama. What a beautiful day! We briefed, and like always, I had to recite Condition 8. Mike Garrido was the "on record
AMS".

MSgt Rolfes was the AMS trainee. I, training someone on position 11 (old Levi). On our way back, I finished my 180 and headed back to the sling sit
by the LG work station. Getting closer to Panama, there they were. What a sight! Panamanian thunder storms!! No big deal. We had gone thru them many
times before. While relaxing by the LG work station, it happened. A bolt of lightning hit the C-130. The bolt rided the metal tracks under the
shelters. I raised my legs and hoped I didn't get electrocuted.

Meanwhile, I hear MSgt Rolfes ask Garrido, "Shouldn't we call someone"? Miguel Garrido, In shock, replied...Don't touch anything!...Are you crazy? It is a
thunder bolt!

The bolt , not really having shown its power, departed the C-130 thru the cargo ramp. Never to be seen again.
That's why MSgt Rolfes is called,; Jim "Relampago" Rolfes.
